e-court project launched

Incorporating e-court scheme into the judicial system could solve problems pertaining to space and storage, faced by the judiciary, P.K. Balasubramanian, Chairman, e-committee of the Supreme Court has said.

Delivering the inaugural address at the State-level launch of the e-court project at the District Court Complex here on Friday, Mr. Balasubramanian said that cooperation from the State government was required to maintain the e-court system.

The e-court mission mode project will use a standard software for all district and subordinate court across the country. This is meant to facilitate integration of all courts, sharing of data among courts and creation of a National Judicial Grid.

Mr. Balasubramanian said that the e-committee also proposed to create a data bank by making judgments available online. “We also plan to archive the records so that record rooms can be utilised better. Chaos in record rooms can thus be avoided,” Mr. Balasubramanian said.
